Running costs are extremely low compared to petrol powered equivalents as electricity costs a lot less than petrol per mile; there is no road tax to pay; maintenance costs are lower as there are fewer parts to service.
How far can I go on one charge?
The range depends on factors such as road condition, hills, temperature, weight of the rider and tyre pressure. The various battery ranges are set out on the individual model pages. in the TSX and TC (not the TC Max or the CUX) two batteries can be installed for twice the range.
Where can I charge my vehicle?
A 13A plug socket is all that is required to charge our motorcycles. As the batteries are removeable this can be done virtually anywhere.
How much does electricity cost?
Currently, electricity costs approximately £0.12 to £0.18 per kWh, depending on your energy supplier. This means that using an electric motorcycle/scooter you will spend less than £1.00 per 100 miles.
How long will the battery last?
The batteries should last for more than 600 charges.
How long does it take the battery to charge?
Charging time depends on how depleted the battery is and varies according to model – please refer to the individual model pages and click ‘Technical Specification’.
Do I need a licence to ride an electric motorcycle or scooter on UK public roads?
You must have a valid provisional or full driving licence covering mopeds or motorcycles.
Generally, if you passed your (car) driving test before 1 February 2001 you can ride a Super Soco TSX, TC or CUX without further training or L plates, although it is a good idea to obtain some training prior to riding.
If you have a provisional moped licence or passed your car driving test later than 1 February 2001 then you are required to pass your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) and you must display L plates until you qualify for a full moped licence. Provisional entitlement with CBT is valid for two years after which CBT must be retaken.
TC Max requires a full motorcycle licence or a CBT even if you have a pre-2001 car licence.
Do I need a licence to ride an electric bicycle on UK public roads?
As these machines are restricted to 15.5 mph you do not need a licence.
Do your vehicles need road tax, registration documents, number plates and MOT tests in the UK?
All of our vehicles are exempt from vehicle tax but, with the exception of e-bikes, they must be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and display number plates, and if more than three years old they need an MOT certificate. This will cover all the standard tests for a motorcycle.
Am I allowed to derestrict my electric motorcycle or scooter?
The TC, TSX and CUX can be derestricted which will improve the top speed by approximately 20–30%. You must inform your insurance company and you may invalidate your warranty should you decide to derestrict your machine.
